Commissions

Need to turn a bland wall into an eye-catching one? Looking for a painting done in particular colors or of a certain style to enhance your decor? Want to remember a special time in someone’s life or the best pet ever? I am pleased to work with those who would like to bring their ideas to life.

Below are some examples of commissions I have done.

Jim Hunt’s wife surprised him with this painting depicting the first time he launched his bright, red kayak.

The time a work takes to complete depends on its size, the media used, the complexity of content, and number of projects higher up on my commission list. But I am very good with deadlines, given my career in publishing! You will know upfront when your art will be delivered.

Pricing depends mostly on the work’s size and the cost of materials used. But there are no surprises: I will tell you upfront what your project will cost.

Below are some examples of the dog portraits I have done. All are in acrylic on canvas and were framed, but only “Riley” shows the “floater” frame used for all of them.

Guinness     16” x 20”

Akeido     8” x 10”

Riley    16” x 20”

Piccadilly.  11” x 14”

The following are my prices for dog portraits:

8” x 10” - head only :  $325. Frame: $50

11” x 14” - complete dog or head: $400. Frame: $80

16” x 20” - complete dog:  $600.  Frame: $100

20” x 24” - complete dog: $800. Frame: $125

Other types of commissions — such as the one at the top of this page — are priced individually, ahead of time. Again, no surprises.

You will approve a preliminary sketch and the colors to be used.

At that point, half of the commission fee is due.

When the artwork is complete, and you are happy with it, the last half is due.
